Shelton

The City of Shelton is small town nestled in Naugatuck Valley and located only 90 minutes from New York City by rail or highway. Located in Fairfield County and covering 31.4 square miles Shelton is bordered by Stratford to the south, Trumbull and Monroe to the west and across the Housatonic River lie Seymour, Ansonia, Derby, Orange and Milford.  The city was incorporated in 1789 from Stratford as a town and incorporated in 1919 as a city. Shelton offers its residents numerous parks, playgrounds and recreational facilities. In addition, the city is home to a private 18-hole golf facility, Brownson Country Club. A variety of athletic programs are available to children and adults alike. Shelton also offers a variety of citywide events throughout the year to help build a sense of pride and community.  Shelton is a growing community populated by many young families and strives to provide a rich, stimulating learning environment for students of all levels. The abundance of educational resources and strong community spirit makes this city a wonderful environment in which to live, work and learn.
